Our areas of legal expertise

Here is an overview of the areas in which our solicitors specialise.

Buying or Selling your home?

We understand that moving home is widely regarded as one of the most stressful times of life! Our aim at Darwin Matthews is to make your transaction as straightforward as possible, and to ensure that we deal with your Conveyancing efficiently.

We deal with all Residential and Commercial Matters, including:

  • Buying and Selling leasehold and freehold property (including Auction purchases)
  • Transfers of land
  • Transfers of Equity
  • Mortgages and remortages
  • Leases

Although we are based in Shrewsbury we can act on any property throughout England and Wales.

Please telephone or email property@darwinlaw.co.uk for a fixed fee quote (with no hidden extras!).

Matrimonial and Family law

At Darwin Matthews Solicitors we really do understand how stressful things can be when relationships break down between parties, particularly where there are children involved. As well as being emotionally fraught, relationship difficulties can also bring financial hardship to parties at a time when further difficulties can be particularly hard to deal with.

At Darwin Matthews Solicitors our aim is to provide advice and resolution to difficulties in such a way, where at all possible, as to keep costs to a minimum whilst looking to achieve positive and realistic outcomes for our clients. Whereas we cannot guarantee that matters will be finalised speedily and without contest, as often the reaction of the other party or their solicitors will play a major factor here, you can be sure that we will be professional, friendly and realistic in our approach in order to see you through a testing time as painlessly as possible.

Of course, the proof of the pudding is in the eating! Why not simply contact us in the first instance to see if we are people you could comfortably deal with? We doubt very much that you will find any other solicitors in this area with a more competitive fee structure or caring approach. If you do find another firm of solicitors with a more competitive hourly rate on a private basis,  we would be very surprised indeed. If you have contacted other solicitors and been put off by the hourly rates you have been quoted, please do take a few minutes to make contact with us to hear what we can offer. You are likely to find that, where we are unable to offer fixed fees in certain areas, our hourly rates will be significantly less those quoted by other solicitors.

Whether or not you are sure about what you want to happen next in the context of your relationship, please do feel free to ring us for an informal initial discussion.

Financial Mis selling / Debt Management

If you have been badly advised in respect of any financial products, at Darwin Matthews Solicitors we will be pleased to advise you on the solutions available. We can pursue any remedy you might have on your behalf against the lender. Claims may arise as a result of the mis-sale of specific products, such as Payment Protection Insurance. Also, many consumers have been badly advised on mortgage products and damages can be substantial in the event of a successful claim. Usually claims can be pursued on the basis of a contingency fee, which means that there are no up-front fees or wasted costs for clients.

We can also assist clients in respect of Debt Management issues, which unfortunately are all too common in the current economic climate.

Motoring Offences

At Darwin Matthews Solicitors, we have experience in protecting clients' driving licences where at all possible.

Allegations we can provide advice on and assist with, including representation in Court, are those such as Driving with Excess Alcohol, Careless Driving, Driving without Insurance and Speeding. Please do ask for details.
